National Bagelfest Day is a holiday that’s was first started back in 1986. This is when the owner of Lenders’ Bagels, Murray Lender, decided to found a festival dedicated to the bagel. This festival was first held in Mattoon, Illinois but the holiday is currently observed all over the U.S.
