Here’s a simple way to make homemade ice cream cones:
Ingredients:
- 2 large egg whites
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- ¼ cup whole milk
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- Pinch of salt
Instructions:
- Prepare the Batter:
- In a medium bowl, whisk the egg whites and sugar until combined and slightly frothy.
- Add the melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract, and whisk until smooth.
- Gradually sift in the flour and a pinch of salt, mixing until a smooth batter forms. It should be somewhat thin, similar to pancake batter.
- Cooking the Cone:
- Preheat a non-stick skillet or griddle to medium heat.
- Pour about 2 tablespoons of the batter onto the skillet and spread it into a thin, round shape using the back of a spoon. Aim for around 5-6 inches in diameter.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes until the edges start to turn golden brown. Flip the circle over and cook the other side for another minute.
- Shaping the Cone:
- Quickly remove the circle from the pan and shape it into a cone while it’s still warm and pliable. You can use a cone mold or roll it by hand.
- Hold the seam of the cone for a few seconds to seal it, then place the cone seam side down to cool and harden.
- Enjoy:
- Once cool, your cones are ready to fill with your favorite ice cream!
