Here’s a simple way to make homemade ice cream cones:

Ingredients:

  • 2 large egg whites
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • ¼ cup whole milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Batter:
    • In a medium bowl, whisk the egg whites and sugar until combined and slightly frothy.
    • Add the melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract, and whisk until smooth.
    • Gradually sift in the flour and a pinch of salt, mixing until a smooth batter forms. It should be somewhat thin, similar to pancake batter.
  2. Cooking the Cone:
    • Preheat a non-stick skillet or griddle to medium heat.
    • Pour about 2 tablespoons of the batter onto the skillet and spread it into a thin, round shape using the back of a spoon. Aim for around 5-6 inches in diameter.
    • Cook for 2-3 minutes until the edges start to turn golden brown. Flip the circle over and cook the other side for another minute.
  3. Shaping the Cone:
    • Quickly remove the circle from the pan and shape it into a cone while it’s still warm and pliable. You can use a cone mold or roll it by hand.
    • Hold the seam of the cone for a few seconds to seal it, then place the cone seam side down to cool and harden.
  4. Enjoy:
    • Once cool, your cones are ready to fill with your favorite ice cream!
