A TV dinner, also known as a frozen meal or ready meal, is a pre-packaged frozen meal that usually includes a main course and side dishes, all in a single tray. The concept originated in the 1950s and was designed to be a convenient, quick meal that could be heated in the oven (and later the microwave) and eaten while watching TV, hence the name.

Traditional TV dinners often include classic comfort foods like meatloaf, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, peas, and corn. The meals come in a divided tray, keeping each food item separate, and they have become iconic for their simplicity and association with American culture.
