Making a sausage pizza is quite straightforward! Here’s a simple recipe:

Ingredients:

  • Pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • Pizza sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • Mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • Parmesan cheese, grated (optional)
  • Italian sausage, removed from casings (sweet or hot, depending on your preference)
  • Olive oil
  • Toppings (optional): sliced onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, etc.
  • Fresh basil or oregano for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the dough:
    • Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat.
    • Roll out your pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
  2. Cook the sausage:
    • In a skillet, heat a bit of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sausage (removed from casing) and cook until browned, breaking it into small chunks as it cooks (about 6-8 minutes). Set aside.
  3. Assemble the pizza:
    • Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce evenly over the dough.
    • Sprinkle a generous amount of shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
    • Distribute the cooked sausage evenly over the pizza.
    • Add any optional toppings like onions, bell peppers, or mushrooms.
    • Sprinkle a little grated Parmesan cheese for extra flavor if desired.
  4. Bake:
    • Place the pizza on a baking sheet or, if using a pizza stone, transfer the pizza directly onto the stone using a pizza peel.
    • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
  5. Garnish & serve:
    • Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
    • Garnish with fresh basil or oregano if desired.
    • Slice and serve hot!
